Easter Ham
I know a ham is pre-cooked, but smoking one adds great flavor. I ditched the provided glaze and made a maple bourbon one instead. No real maple syrup on hand, so I used pancake syrup. No complaints!

Art of Love is Happiness
While rehearsing for an upcoming gig with Dan Clucas, Jeff Schwartz, Alexander Vogel, and Rich West I was reacquainted with The Art of Love is Happiness, an Ornette Coleman composition that may have been my favorite on the In All Languages album. There is a nice version of it below, but you can also come out and see the five of us play it as well as compositions by Steve Lacy, Albert Ayler, Dave Holland, and Thelonius Monk:

Dead Air Trio: the final installment
Here's the final installment of the second set at J. Michael Walker's studio. Gets a little more active, with some great trumpet to open up the first couple of minutes. There's some faux-bass by me about 1/2 way through and Brian picks things up as well. A good end to the set.

Dead Air Trio: 2nd Set at J. Michael Walker's Studio, part 3 of 4
Here's part 3! Starts real slow and quiet, lots of other voices in it too. Compelling footage of me rummaging around in my bag. Cool muted stuff by Dan at the end. This really was background music.

Dead Air Trio: 2nd Set at J. Michael Walker's Studio, part 2 of 4
Here's the second of the four installments of this video. Lots of bird interaction on this one. You'll also see a lot of people walking through the performance space. While this can sometimes be annoying, on this day we were happy to be part of the whole landscape with all of the people, art, and animals. Dan described it like being part of one of Stockhausen's outdoor performances.

Dead Air Trio: 2nd Set at J. Michael Walker's Studio
Here is the first of four installments of the second set of the Dead Air Trio's performance at artist J. Michael Walker's studio. This was part of the Arroyo Arts Collective's annual self guided tour. For those who like, quiet, slow free improvisation.
